Gold Label Insect Attraction Lamps
For the most effective control of flying insects, it recommended to use a combination Black Light(BL) and Black Light Blue (BLB) lamps, BL lamps are unfiltered; that is they emit both visible light and insect-attracting ultraviolet light. BLB lamps are filtered; that is, they emit energy almost entirely in the insect-attracting ultraviolet range.
BL/BLB lamp combinations are effective for attracting high-flying insects such as moths and caddis flies. The BL/BLB lamp combination offers the most complete solution in the broadest range of insect attraction currently available.
Lamp Life Loss
Insect-attracting ultraviolet (UV) energy is produced within a lamp by its phosphor, a dust-like coating. Virtually all ultraviolet producing phosphors have an effective life of only 7000 hours (or 9.5 months of continuous use).
After 7000 hours of operation, visible light (detectable to the human eye) will continue to be emitted. However, the lamp's UV emissions are 50% below original emissions levels.
To maintain insect-attracting effectiveness in light traps, it is essential to replace insect attraction lamps at least annually.
